The Brooklyn Preschool of Science is excited to bring in 3D printing for our 2021-2022 school year.  There are many benefits to having 3D printing as a part of your child’s classroom curriculum and overall school experience.  Here are a few reasons why:

• 3D printing will help foster the inventor in each of our children.  3D printing technology takes the innate inventor in each child and brings their ideas to fruition. Imagine a child who can identify their needs and solve the problem by designing and creating their own solution.  Simply put, children can use their imagination and ingenuity to create their very own inventions.
• The Brooklyn Preschool of Science believes in the importance of thematic units of study.  No matter the curriculum, 3D printing can bring these themes to life.  When we are learning about simple machines, our learners can print their own wheels and axles and print their very own cars.  This will motivate children to learn the concepts on hand and engage our students through the conception, design, and execution of their projects while interacting with their 3D printers.   With a learning setting like this, it is certain for our students never to be bored.
• Creating a STEAM curriculum is vital to a child’s success.  The beauty of 3D printing is it connects to science, technology, engineering, art, and math all at the same time.  With 3D printing, students become designers and creators using cutting-edge technology to visualize and create their own imaginations.
• The Brooklyn Preschool of Science utilizes the power of inquiry to encourage children to problem solve in the most hands-on way possible. 3D printing will help foster creativity, critical thinking and provide various opportunities for our students.  They will learn how to utilize this technology, troubleshoot any problems they come across, and most importantly, solve problems.  To create an independent learning environment, children need to have these opportunities.  Ultimately, this will translate to help children solve problems in their everyday life.
