Summer Camp in Brooklyn
2026 Brooklyn Preschools of Science summer programs
Summer Programs for Children Ages 6 Months to 5 Years
At Brooklyn Preschool of Science, our summer camp combines science, creativity, outdoor exploration, sensory play, and hands-on STEM learning in a safe and nurturing environment. Children participate in engaging weekly themes that encourage discovery, imagination, and confidence while making new friends and creating lasting memories. Families in Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, and Park Slope choose our summer programs because they provide the perfect balance of learning, exploration, and summer fun.
Weekly Summer Camp Themes
Week 1: Ocean’s Blue (June 15-18, closed 6/19)
The children will take a deep dive into ocean life and learn how important and complex an ocean ecosystem really is. They will handle live fiddler crabs, sea stars, dig for real shark teeth, and observe other fun exotic ocean dwellers. Children will study water and its properties, including absorption, sinking, and floating, and create their own boats as they learn about buoyancy and stability.
Week 2: Superhero Science (June 22-26)
Your child is registered for Superhero Science week! During this super-fun week, children will learn the amazing science behind the superheroes they love. We will create our own superheroes by designing masks and capes. We will look at Magneto and study magnets like never before. We will create pompom shooters and learn how to find invisible ink! While building these fun devices, children will learn about forces and motion. All of this and more will happen during our Superhero Science Camp week!
Week 3: Roar Roar Dinosaur (June 28-July 3)
Learn about body defense weapons by creating your very own extinct dinosaur. Take part in the dino-dig, where you use your brushes and picks to hunt for dinosaur bones. How big were the dinosaurs? Let’s replicate how big their feet really were and measure up to them. Become a paleontologist and learn how to make impressions of dinosaur bones. Replicate the La Brea Tar Pits, and see exactly why prehistoric animals got trapped in these giant pools of slime. This session is full of great dinosaur fun, so hurry up, don’t hesitate, get here and run!
Week 4: CLOSED (July 6-July 10)
Week 5: Sound Is All Around (July 13-17)
Do you like science? Do you like music? Do you like instruments? If you do, then this is the week for you. Work with Boom Whackers and learn the science behind sound. Simply wave them in the air and produce a full octave of eight consecutive notes. Make homemade harmonicas, and see why vibrations are important for sound. The sound they make is really cool. Learn how to transform a paper towel roll into a kazoo, and watch confetti dance to the beat. If you like guitars, I dare you to try to invent the coolest-sounding guitar. All this will take place this coming summer. I hope to hear from you there!
Week 6: Don’t Bug Me (July 20-24)
Welcome to the world of creepy crawlers. Explore and observe critters like pill bugs, mega mealworms, earthworms, and more! Take home bug glasses, and see through the eyes of an insect. Do you want to have an exoskeleton? Scientists will create their very own body armor and explore what it’s really like to live like a bug. All this and more will take place during this creepy-crawly week.
Week 7: My Body My Buddy (July 27-July 31)
Batten down the hatches! Take part in our in-depth pirates class, and you’ll love it. Use recyclable materials and attempt to build a floating pirate ship. One built; test it to see how much load your ship can hold. Participate in an optical experiment and construct a homemade telescope. Now get on your crow’s nest, use your telescope, and see if you observe another pirate ship coming. Construct really cool air cannons and get ready to scuttle your enemy’s pirate ship. When you have taken over their ship, learn about balance and stability, and have your prisoners walk the plank. Blimey!! Learn how to dig for pirate booty and excavate for coins, gems, fool’s gold, and more. All this will take place during our summer session, and it is going to be awesome!
STEM Summer Camp Activities for Young Learners

As a dermatologist, I appreciated the learning through science. This school is a step above the rest! Anna KarpTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have been a BPOS Family since September 2023 and couldn't be happier. During our first tour with Carmelo Piazza, we immediately knew BPOS was a special place. Over the last couple years, we've had the privilege of watching our son flourish in his classrooms (both PK2 and PK3). Every aspect of the BPOS approach is intentional and well executed. The foundation of a science and math based education during these formative years is incredible. It is such a joy to see our son apply lessons he's learning in the classroom to real life scenarios and get excited to talk about them at home. The BPOS approach to teaching is a rewarding philosophy and makes learning fun for children. We were immediately impressed with the integration of specialists (physical movement, foreign language, dance/music) at such a young age. This programming makes every day exciting for our son and his classmates and we love asking questions about each class. The faculty support and administrative staff is also truly remarkable. Since Day 1, we've felt supported and heard. I can't say enough about all the wonderful things they do for BPOS families. They encourage us to be involved, collaborative and forward with our thoughts and questions. The BPOS faculty leverages the BrightWheel app which makes communication and awareness on a daily basis seamless. Parent involvement is celebrated and the teachers take their responsibilities as educational navigators seriously. They spark joy, encourage creativity and support children throughout their development. Every single staff member at BPOS is kind, welcoming, warm and wonderful to work with. It makes being a parent there so easy. Overall, we couldn't be happier with our experience. Every aspect of the BPOS approach is phenomenal and we've already signed our younger son up for their 2's program this Fall 2025. Thank you to everyone at BPOS for their tremendous care in all that they do to make children, parents and families feel like a special member of the community. Thank you Carmelo & BPOS!!! Great teachers, great initiatives, great administration! The Brooklyn Preschool of Science has been fantastic. It was amazing to our son come home, pick up a toy, and drop it at our feet and say: “Gravity!” Or after the class raised a butterfly and released it, while reading him The Very Hungry Caterpillar, to have him point at the cocoon near the end and say “chrysalis”. And their initiatives are not limited to science, they also have music, language, and physical activities. Most importantly, the teachers and administration all truly care about the development of their students. Carmelo and his staff will take time to meet with both parents and students on an individual basis. Highly recommended. Nicholas J. CalamariTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We spent a wonderful five years as part of the BPOS family, with both our kids attending through pre-K. There was not one day our kids were sad to leave us at their classroom- every day they were happy and excited to learn and see their teachers and friends. We always felt confident in their safety and educational/social experience there. Every single teacher and staff member is warm, caring and knowledgeable. I remember how lucky I felt when my oldest was accepted there, and how sad I was when our time was over with our youngest’s pre-k graduation. What a special place, and how lucky we were to be part of the BPOS community. Rebecca GoldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our 2 yo went to BPOS and it was the best decision and money spent. The teachers are warm and experienced. The other families and other children were amazing. Our little one was given the attention and direction needed to learn and grow an immense amount over that year. Grateful to the thought, care and dedication to science. The owner Carmelo is on site many days, all the admin knowing everyone by name and greet everyone equally in the mornings. All the teachers (we were in Ms. Brianna’s class) are everythin and put so much thought and energy into each day and week. BPOS also utilize Brightwheel which is a wonderful communication tool. I looked forward to the 1pm photo drop every day! jackie freeseTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. You can tell just by walking into the school the amount of investment that goes back into making it a really fun environment for the kiddos. I went on other school tours but BPOS had a different energy that other schools lacked. Kids ran up to the director as he gave tour because they were so excited to see him. And he gives the tour with a lot of passion. The greetings every morning are warm, the curriculum is stem focused and fun. It’s so impressive what they are able to teach to such young children at this school. Family is a big focus at this school, and I feel part of the community just as much as my little scientist is! Tina MohsinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My daughter Liora started this Feb at the BPOS on Wykoff. Liora was just two when she began so it was obviously a tough transition. The staff at BPOS was SO wonderful and loving that within weeks Lia was excited and anxious to go to school. I cannot say enough amazing things about our experience, the thoughtful and creative curriculum AND the difference in the way my daughter speaks and things she's learned in only 4.5 months. I wholeheartedly recommend this school! Jess (mom to Liora) jessica bambergerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Brooklyn Preschool of Science is an amazing school. It’s the best & most equipped pre-school in the entire district. You get back what you pay as it’s top notch programming & kids are exposed to a science integrated curriculum, athletics, Spanish music & yoga specialists. They have puppeteers & African animal 🦔 rescuers visiting the school. They have so many fun theme days for the kids! It bled our pockets but we were paying for programming that is definitely worth it, my son is nurtured in a safe & loving environment without any undesired indoctrination of any kind. BPOS is sensitive to the different cultures and backgrounds for kids. My son got exposed to things that I have never been exposed to and learns so much everyday! Every day there is something special in that school. I am so happy that I enrolled him there. I truly believe it’s the best, I actually take the subway from Park Slope to bring my son there, because out of all the schools I researched and visited, nothing beats it, especially with what they have to offer. Look no further & trust me on this because I am a previous educator, and know a great school when I see one. I feel blessed that my son went to BPOS this year because I know he’s getting the best experience and education. They really do have the most caring staff too. It’s a great community. I hope that BPOS would keep their high standards. My son frequently comes home with gifts & toys from the school. It’s like Christmas every day :)) he loves it there & is always happy & smiling telling me about the exciting things he’s done or seen, or what animals he pet! I wish I went to a school like that when I was younger lol 😂 Mama MarzoukyVerified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
