Summer Camp in Brooklyn

2026 Brooklyn Preschools of Science summer programs

Summer Programs for Children Ages 6 Months to 5 Years

At Brooklyn Preschool of Science, our summer camp combines science, creativity, outdoor exploration, sensory play, and hands-on STEM learning in a safe and nurturing environment. Children participate in engaging weekly themes that encourage discovery, imagination, and confidence while making new friends and creating lasting memories. Families in Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, and Park Slope choose our summer programs because they provide the perfect balance of learning, exploration, and summer fun.

Weekly Summer Camp Themes

Week 1: Ocean’s Blue (June 15-18, closed 6/19)

  • The children will take a deep dive into ocean life and learn how important and complex an ocean ecosystem really is. They will handle live fiddler crabs, sea stars, dig for real shark teeth, and observe other fun exotic ocean dwellers. Children will study water and its properties, including absorption, sinking, and floating, and create their own boats as they learn about buoyancy and stability.

Week 2: Superhero Science  (June 22-26)

  • Your child is registered for Superhero Science week! During this super-fun week, children will learn the amazing science behind the superheroes they love. We will create our own superheroes by designing masks and capes. We will look at Magneto and study magnets like never before. We will create pompom shooters and learn how to find invisible ink! While building these fun devices, children will learn about forces and motion. All of this and more will happen during our Superhero Science Camp week!

Week 3: Roar Roar Dinosaur (June 28-July 3)

  • Learn about body defense weapons by creating your very own extinct dinosaur. Take part in the dino-dig, where you use your brushes and picks to hunt for dinosaur bones. How big were the dinosaurs? Let’s replicate how big their feet really were and measure up to them. Become a paleontologist and learn how to make impressions of dinosaur bones. Replicate the La Brea Tar Pits, and see exactly why prehistoric animals got trapped in these giant pools of slime. This session is full of great dinosaur fun, so hurry up, don’t hesitate, get here and run!

    Week 4: CLOSED (July 6-July 10)

Week 5: Sound Is All Around (July 13-17)

  • Do you like science? Do you like music? Do you like instruments? If you do, then this is the week for you. Work with Boom Whackers and learn the science behind sound. Simply wave them in the air and produce a full octave of eight consecutive notes. Make homemade harmonicas, and see why vibrations are important for sound. The sound they make is really cool. Learn how to transform a paper towel roll into a kazoo, and watch confetti dance to the beat. If you like guitars, I dare you to try to invent the coolest-sounding guitar. All this will take place this coming summer. I hope to hear from you there!

Week 6: Don’t Bug Me (July 20-24)

  • Welcome to the world of creepy crawlers. Explore and observe critters like pill bugs, mega mealworms, earthworms, and more! Take home bug glasses, and see through the eyes of an insect. Do you want to have an exoskeleton? Scientists will create their very own body armor and explore what it’s really like to live like a bug. All this and more will take place during this creepy-crawly week.

Week 7: My Body My Buddy (July 27-July 31)

  • Batten down the hatches! Take part in our in-depth pirates class, and you’ll love it. Use recyclable materials and attempt to build a floating pirate ship. One built; test it to see how much load your ship can hold. Participate in an optical experiment and construct a homemade telescope. Now get on your crow’s nest, use your telescope, and see if you observe another pirate ship coming. Construct really cool air cannons and get ready to scuttle your enemy’s pirate ship. When you have taken over their ship, learn about balance and stability, and have your prisoners walk the plank. Blimey!! Learn how to dig for pirate booty and excavate for coins, gems, fool’s gold, and more. All this will take place during our summer session, and it is going to be awesome!
